Welcome to the Space Museum

Hi! I am Vyommitra!

Vyommitra ("Vyom" = space; "Mitra" = friend) is a female-looking humanoid robot developed by ISRO to function on-board the Gaganyaan! It was first unveiled on 22 January 2020 at the Human Spaceflight and Exploration symposium in Bengaluru. It will be accompanying the Indian astronauts in space missions and will also be a part of uncrewed experimental Gaganyaan missions prior to the crewed spaceflight missions. It will be onboard uncrewed Gaganyaan missions to perform microgravity experiments, monitor module parameters, and also support astronauts in crewed missions by simulating functions similar to humans. Studies on effects of weightlessness and radiation on the human body during long durations in space will be performed using Vyommitra.

Vyommitra welcomes you to the Museum! Enjoy your visit today!
